Ofsted have published a new report on how education, health and care partners work together to commission and oversee alternative provision (AP), which you can read in full here:

APSEND welcomes the report and the important focus on the role that alternative provision (AP) can and should play across the education system in supporting a wide range of children and young people. Whilst we know that current standards and arrangements for AP are often too variable nationally, we welcome Ofsted’s focus on ensuring that good practice is highlighted where possible as well as looking to ensure that any barriers and enablers to local partnership working are identified. The focus on ensuring that that high quality AP can provide vital support for children is welcome, as is the need to better understand its overall purpose.

We are pleased that the APSEND MAT CEOs network has played an active role in supporting this work through our membership of Ofsted’s AP Reference Group.
